We just finished our last seminar, “The Five Levels of Leadership.” It was a great class, several people felt like it was the best one so far.
Leadership is a funny thing, it seems like everyone see’s it in a different light. It is so important that we always remember that, LEADERSHIP IS INFLUENCE, nothing more and nothing less.
Everyone has influence in some area, a father, a mother, a school teacher, a business man or even a regular everyday employee. EVERYONE has influence.
What is important is how you use the influence that God has given you. Influence means that you lead people in some direction. What direction are you leading the people you have influence with. Are you leading them to be better and to do more with their life, or are you taking them down some path that will not help them in any way?
Along with influence comes responsibility. You will be held accountable for where you lead the people you influence. Make sure you are leading them to become better then they were when you left them!!!!
Have you ever thought of yourself as an influencer or someone who has been given influence over other people? Whether you realize it or not you are an INFLUENCER!!
Happiness depends on feeling good about yourself. It is based on relationships and achievements. When your gifts and abilities are developed and used through your life’s work you GROW IN CONFIDENCE AND STRENGTH. Today I want to give you FIVE KEYS which will UNLOCK the treasures of growth and confidence in your life and make you much more productive in your life’s work.
1. Accept work as God’s gift, not punishment. The Word say we are to, “Rejoice in our labor, this is the gift of God.”
2. Recognize God as your true employer. Decide each day to leave your home WORKING FOR GOD, not just for the boss.
3. Pursue work COMPATIBLE with your gifts, abilities and interests. The apostle Paul told Timothy, “don’t neglect the gift that is in you.”
4. Learn everything that you possible can about your job. If you your not interested in your job, find one that you are interested in and learn it well.
5. Don’t be a time thief. We are to redeem the time because none of us know how much TIME we have left, it might be less than we think.
All of these five items are ATTITUDES that we must develop in our lives and in our work habits. If you become the best worker, the most informed worker and the most dependable worker in your place of employment you will always have a job. BE THE BEST AT WHAT YOU DO!
— The LOVE FACTOR confuses the not-Christian who equates LOVE WITH APPROVAL. People who are away from a relationship with God cannot grasp that the Lord LOVES those who are unqualified. When we truly understand that God’s LOVE is unconditionally. We then begin to understand about GIVING.
1. LOVE is an attitude; giving is the resulting action.
2. LOVE is the placement of value on other people.
3. Giving is the depriving yourself in order to benefit another.
I love Christmas, and quite frankly, I get excited about reading notes and cards from friends of mine, but I still have enough “little Kid” in me to like to get presents and gifts from other people. However, there is a lot more to Christmas than trees and lights and presents. It is a CELEBRATION OF LOVE, THE LOVE OF GOD. God’s love is perpetuated through our GIVING.
HERE IS THE PRINCIPLE: WHEN YOU LET GO OF WHAT IS IN YOUR HAND, GOD WILL LET GO OF WHAT IS IN HIS HAND FOR YOU. And guess what, GOD’S HAND IS MUCH BIGGER THAN OURS. BE BLESSED!
Is it a DRUDGERY OR A DELIGHT? WHAT KIND OF A JOB DO YOU HAVE? Being at the right job or in the right career is a very important key for your success and for your happiness. Many times we blame our mates, our children, for our frustrations when really it can be a dissatisfaction with our career or our job. Now really your work is supposed to be a great source of JOY for you. It should bring satisfaction to your life and bring harmony to your family. We are supposed to rejoice in our labour for it is a GIFT FROM GOD.
If your not rejoicing in your labour, maybe you need some reflection time to really think about what you ARE DOING and what you SHOULD BE DOING. One brings happiness and fulfillment. The other brings stress and fatigue to your life. Do not accept a job based simply on convenient location or financial sufficiency or even on friendships. Find out what you are good at and what you like to do it with all your heart. Find out what you really like to do and then get so good at doing it that people will pay you to do it. Even though you would do it without pay just because you like doing it so much.
If you will take this attitude, you will never feel like you have to go to work again. You just get to go our and do what you really enjoy doing and people will actually pay you to do it. WHAT A WAY TO LIVE. It will probably take an ATTITUDE CHANGE but it will be worth it! Think about and then follow your lead.
Leadership is a privilege to better the lives of others. It is not an opportunity to satisfy personal greed. Our attitude always determines the outcome of everything we do. Many times we can do the right things, but if it is for the wrong reason, it will never have the desired outcome that we want it to have. We must always check our motives for not only what we do but also why we do them. This is many times why people get so discouraged in life, they think they are doing good things, and they are, but it may be for the wrong reason or with a separate agenda.
In my life my attitude and why I do things are always checked by the way they turn out. Good deeds done for the wrong reason with never turn out the way you want them to. However good deeds done with the right motive will always bring blessings and good things to you. Check your attitude and why you do what you do to make sure they are for the right reason. There is a scripture in 1 Cor 11:28 that says, “let a man examine himself so he does not come under judgment.” Check yourself to make sure you are on the right path and your life will produce good things for you and your family.

Many people think that leadership is a position they get or arrive at in life. They think this makes them a leader. Leadership is not a position, it cannot be given to a person by gift or hire. Harold S. Geneen says, “Leadership is practiced not so much in words as in attitude and in actions.” Many times people work at a job, maybe in a church or a corporation or some other employment; they say, ” One day I will work my way up to supervisor or manager and then I will be a leader.
Why not start out the job being a leader, not by getting a position but by having influence with the people that you work with around you. Leadership is not a position but it is having influence with people. You see at any level in an organization you can start out with influence. It’s the way you act, the way you work, the way you handle yourself. You influence people by having the best attitude, by having a spirit of working together with others. You have all heard the saying that a dad says to his son when he goes out to play. “Son play well with the other kids.” Leadership is being on the TEAM AND BEING THE BEST TEAM MEMBER in the group.
You can do this, but it does take a concerted effort and you must do it intentional. It begins with having the best ATTITUDE and the having the best ACTION to go along with the ATTITUDE. If you have the attitude to be a great leader, you can do this and show a great attitude. BE YOUR BEST!!
In any society or culture there are always some people who are Players and some people who are pretenders. The key is to get the maturity to move from the pretender to the player in life. Games like football, basketball, and other games are just that, they are games. But life is a different story, it is the real thing and our spirit and soul are on the line with a WINNER TAKE ALL price that goes to the winner. I sure want to make sure that I am on the winning side and that I am a PLAYER and not a PRETENDER when it come to my life and my destiny. I just have to believe that you feel the same way I do about your life. I believe that everyone of us wants to be a winner, but many times we just don’t know how to do it or don’t know what to do. It is so important to learn to be a giver instead of a taker. As we learn to give and be a servant instead of selfish, we move from a PRETENDER TO PLAYER. A lot of things change at this point of your life. You will have more PEACE, more HAPPINESS, more VITALITY in your everyday walk. And more important than all of these things is you will be content with yourself. THAT’S WORTH IT ALL. Be a servant and go out and serve someone today, do it with the attitude that I want to serve this person, not that you have too, I just want to do it because it is the right thing to do. FIND A NEED AND FILL, FIND A LIFE AND ENCOURAGE IT. You will love yourself if you do.
