There is a saying that says, “There are never two consecutive days in the life of a leader.” That may be true but I believe that even the days that are not perfect are better than any days you had before you knew what your purpose in life was. When a man or woman begins to walk in their purpose, that are able to meet challenges head on and most of the time they don’t seen that bad.
We need to understand that our FEELINGS are not unique or unusual. Great men have admitted that they had times of depression, “Abraham Lincoln, Winston Churchill, King David and many others. According to one survey by the National Institute of Mental Health, at any one time, perhaps one-third of the population is experiencing depression in one form or another.
1. Understand that DEPRESSION can come to every one of us. It can and probably will happen to each of us at one time or another. Many people can lose confidence or hope when things go wrong and fall into DEPRESSION.
2. Recognize the DANGER of Depression. We treat depression too lightly. Depression can lead to a lot of problems (e.g. broken homes, physical and mental breakdowns, etc.) Many times it can lead to suicide or attempted suicide. Most important, it can cause SPIRITUAL BREAKDOWNS.
3. Find the Basic cause and Scriptural Solution to your DEPRESSION. Although Medical Doctors speak of Physical cycles of “highs’ and “Lows,” not all Depression is caused by physical problems. Learn to be honest with yourself, Pinpoint your CAUSE and then take it to God. It could be UNCONFESSED SIN, GREED FOR GAIN, LOW SELF IMAGE and many other causes.
4. Take IMMEDIATE ACTION. We must put our DOUBT and FEAR to the side and choose to believe to live by FAITH, that God has a better plan than you are experiencing right now. You should ANTICIPATE and PLAN for personal victory in your life and begin to look at life in a different way.
I know it is not easy, but IT IS IMPORTANT. God never intended for us to live in defeat. The difference between your ANTICIPATION AND REALITY IS WHAT CAN CAUSE DEPRESSION. Grow through it and become a better person.
Influence is a curious thing. Even though we have an impact with nearly everyone around us, our influence is not the same with everyone. If you want to see this principle in action, try ordering your neighbor’s dog around. It doesn’t work. Our influence is only built with those we have relationship with. We must build the relationship first then we can have influence with them. Just as there are different stages of influence there are different stages of RELATIONSHIPS with people. Not all relationship are the same. Some people you just connect with and others you don’t seem to have as much in common. However relationships can be built, it just may take a little more time and effort on your part.
Influence doesn’t come instantaneously, instead it grows by stages. It grows in four stages:1. MODELING 2. MOTIVATION 3. MENTORSHIP 4. MULTIPLYING
As you go and grow through these stages your influence with other people with grow and develop.

Growth doesn’t just HAPPEN! Do you have a plan for your own personal GROWTH? If I asked you today, what is your plan for your personal growth? Could you give me an answer? You see if you don’t have a plan, you will fail. We all want to be more successful, better jobs, better work opportunities and all that, but if we never prepare or if we don’t have a plan, things will never change.
THE LAW OF INTENTIONALITY says that we must do some things on purpose, intentional and with direction. Bruce Springsteen said, “A time comes when you need to stop waiting for the man you want to become and start being the man you want to be.” If not today, WHEN are we going to start to becoming the man or woman you want to be. We must make a decision to START and then FOLLOW THROUGH. LEARN TO DO THINGS ON PURPOSE.
FOUR GAPS THAT CAUSE US TO NEGLECT OUR GROWTH:
1. The ASSUMPTION Gap: We assume we will grow automatically. Doesn’t happen that way.
2. The KNOWLEDGE Gap: I don’t know what I must do to grow.
3. The TIMING Gap: It’s not the right time just now. I will wait until ???????????
4. TheMISTAKE Gap: I’m afraid of making mistakes. It’s ok, the only people that make mistakes are the people who are doing something. GO AHEAD.
START NOW, TODAY IS NOT TOO SOON. DECIDE YOU ARE GOING TO PLAN YOUR LIFE INSTEAD OF JUST LETTING IT HAPPEN. Do it INTENTIALLY!

One of the windows to tasting the grapes I wrote on yesterday is the “Gate of Forgiveness.” This simpley means the “Transferal of the right to judge and penalize.” That right belongs to the Creator not to us. It literally means that you give up your position on God’s vengeance team. You see, forgiveness can not flow to you until it can flow through you. You must forgive in order to be forgiven.
Many times our success is stopped because our mind is on someone who has hurt us or has lied about us or whatever. Our mind is pre-occupied with that person and whether you know it or not that person is controlling your life. You cannot procede in your life until you get past that hurt or that person who has offended you.
FORGIVENESS has TWO PARTS:1. You must train yourself to forgive other people who have hurt you in some way. 2. You must also train yourself to forgive yourself for the hurt you have caused, because deep down you know you have offended others.
Until you learn to forgive others and then to forgive yourself, you will be stopped in your tracks when it comes to growing and being successful in life. Take some time at the beginning of this year and reflect on your life. Are you holding forgiveness against someone. SETTLE IT WITH THEM SO YOU CAN ON WITH THE GREAT LIFE GOD HAS GIVEN YOU. You are only hurting yourself if you don’t.
In the scriptures it tells us that “WISDOM IS THE KEY THING” Ps 4. Wisdom is the key factor to your success in life. I know people who tithe and give to people in need but are still broke all the time. I know people who have been married for many years but are still not happy or fulfilled in there marriage. You can do many of the right things but if you have not learned WISDOM you will still be defeated in your life. WISDOM IS LEARNING HOW TO LIVE LIFE SKILLFULLY. Doing the right things with the WISDOM to do them for the right reason will not bring the desired result you want.
WISDOM IS THE KEY ISSUE. One of the main things to watch out for in our lives is an “unteachable spirit,” this is an unwillingness to change.” We get new and vital information every day and we refuse to change when it becomes available. The most successful people are those who keep themselves informed and up to date on our changing world. GROWING MEANS CHANGE, it’s part of prospering. There are TWO TYPES OF KNOWLEDGE:
1. (WISDOM) Learning from the mistakes of others.
2 (Experience) Learning from your own mistakes.
Don’t be one of those people who has to make all the mistakes yourself, learn from others and you will be a long way down the road to success. remember WISDOM IS THE PRINCIPLE THING, GET WISDOM!!
Leadership is unlocking the potential that is in each and every person, to help them become better and more successful in their lives. That is a tall order and it takes a lot of work, patience, perseverance and every ounce of strength you can muster. But what a great calling to have, to help people become better and to see themselves grow and become what they never thought they could be. This is a the purpose of mankind, to leave footprints in the lives of other people, so they know you have been there.
Henry Mintzberg said, “Leadership, like swimming, cannot be learned by reading about it.” It must be practiced in every day life. As we develop the skills it takes to add value to the lives of people around you; you not only leave footprints on their life, you also walk in BIGGER FOOTPRINTS in your life. You grow and develop as the you help others do the same thing. WHAT A LIFE, IT’S WORTH LIVING!
