Integrity and High Purpose

integrity

Dwight D. Eisenhower said, “In order to be a leader a man must have followers, And to have followers, a man must have their confidence. Hence the supreme quality for a leader is unquestionably  integrity. Without it, no real success is possible, no matter whether it is on a sections gang, a football field, in an army, or in an office. If a man’s associates find him guilty of phoniness, if they find that he lacks forthright integrity, he will fail. His teachings and actions must square up with each other. The first great need, therefore is INTEGRITY AND HIGH PURPOSE.”

One of the reasons our America is in such trouble is our leaders have no sense of purpose or the INTEGRITY to follow through with the vision and purpose that they do have.

INTEGRITY AND TRUST is the glue that holds people and companies, countries together. without these two traits nothing permanent can be accomplished. When asked what the most important trait is required for leadership the number one answer is INTEGRITY. that is the most important need in our culture today.

Blessings to all of you

BECOME A PERSON OF INTEGRITY

Integrity-World1
When it is all said and done, you can bend your actions to conform to your principles or you can bend your principles to conform to your actions. Once again it’s a CHOICE you have to make every day. If you really want to be a person of influence, choose the path of integrity because all other roads lead to pain and ruin.

1.   COMMIT YOURSELF TO HONESTY, RELIABILITY, AND CONFIDENTIALITY.

Integrity starts with a specific, conscious decision to walk with integrity. This decision has to be made before the crisis comes to your life. Choose today how you will live.

2.   DECIDE AHEAD OF TIME THAT YOU DON’T HAVE A PRICE.

President George Washington perceived that, “few men have the virtue to withstand the highest bidder.” People can be bought because they have never settled the money issue before the day of temptation.

3.   MAJOR IN THE MINOR THINGS:

It’s the little things that can make us or break us when the big things come. It doesn’t matter if your off by an inch or by a mile, your still out of bounds. Honesty is a habit you develop by doing the right thing all the time. If you consistently do whats right in the little things, when the big things come your way it won’t be as difficult.

4.   EACH DAY, DO WHAT YOU SHOULD DO BEFORE WHAT YOU WANT TO DO.

A huge part of integrity is following through consistently on your responsibilities. Zig Ziglar says, “When you do the things you have to do when you have to do them, the day will come when you can do the things you want to do when you want to do them.

DECIDE TO BE A PERSON OF INTEGRITY, IT PAYS BEG DIVIDENDS.

THE NATURE OF NURTURE

,

imagesCA10ARLBIn many ways people respond to others the same way an animal responds to its owner. Dog trainers claim that the one who feeds the dogs is the one the dogs will bond too. I have two little dogs who I love with all my heart. All of my children are raised but those two little puppies keep me busy. I love to play with them and NUTURE them and they respond by showing me some things about dogs that are the same as people.

1.   Before you can do anything in the lives of others you must first show them LOVE. Without LOVE there is no connection. That is true with people as well as animals. Without LOVE there can be no connection, no future and no success together.

2.   RESPECT acknowledges another person’s ability or potential to CONTRIBUTE. Listening to other people shows respect to them, when you put their agenda ahead of your own. Study and learn the POWER OF RESPECT.

3.   Another part of NUTURING is showing a SENSE OF SECURITY. People will be very slow to TRUST you if they do not feel SECURE. They need to know that they are safe with you. Part of making people feel SECURE comes with INTEGRITY. They feel SECURE when your WORDS AND ACTIONS can be trusted.

4.   And finally there is a great need in NUTURING PEOPLE with RECOGNITION. We need to make sure we share RECOGNITION  and show APPRECIATION for a job well done or a service well planned.

Think about these FOUR things and work them into your daily planning and you will see great rewards in the way you treat people and the way they treat you.

CHARACTER PRODUCES TRUST

??????????The world is desperate for Leaders, not just leaders because everyone is a leader. What the world needs is GOOD LEADERS. Not every leader is a good leader. You must ask yourself the question. Where am I taking the people I am leading? If it makes them better or improves their lives, you are headed in the right direction.

CHARACTER produces TRUST in the people who are following you. If a person has CHARACTER the people you lead will get aware of it very quickly. They can learn to TRUST you and will be apt to follow you because they know they can TRUST you.

CHARACTER must be CONSISTENT with your life. Solid trust can develop only when people can TRUST you ALL THE TIME. This is built out of honest COMMUNICATION and TRANSPARENCY on both sides of the RELATIONSHIP.

Keeping your WORD as far as appointments and what you say you will do. It is important to be careful about giving your WORD, but KEEP it when you do. Your leadership will grow in leaps and bounds.

INTEGRITY OR REPUTATION

online_reputation Integrity is built on the INSIDE while Reputation is built on the OUTSIDE. One of the main reasons people want integrity is because they think it comes from the OUTSIDE. They think it is what people think about them. What people think about you is not INTEGRITY IT IS REPUTATION.

INTEGRITY IS NOT DETERMINED BY YOUR CIRCUMSTANCES!  Two people can grow up in the same household or in the same environment and one will have INTEGRITY and the other will not. INTEGRITY is a matter of the HEART not our circumstances.

INTEGRITY IS NOT DETERMINED BY OUR CREDENTIALS: A person can have all kinds of letters behind his or her name and still not have INTEGRITY. A person with out credentials at all can have INTEGRITY and be a person that can be trusted. Once again INTEGRITY IS A MATTER OF THE HEART. Some people have a good heart and some people do not. The Lord said, “A good man out of the good treasure in his heart will produce good fruit.

Never confuse INTEGRITY WITH REPUTATION, THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING. How many sports players you know who has a great REPUTATION but when you find out more about them, you can find many flaws in their INTEGRITY.

This is not what I want out of my life and hopefully you don’t either.

A PERSON OF INFLUENCE MUST HAVE INTEGRITY

imagesCAL1P4I2Influence will never last if a person does not have INTEGRITY with the people he is trying to influence. Integrity is not just something you do, it is and has to be who you are.  INTEGRITY has to be a major part of who you are as well as what you do.

In the first stage of INFLUENCE,  “modeling” it will not take long for the people who begin to follow you, to realize if you have INTEGRITY OR NOT. It will become apparent in the decisions and judgments you make every day in your work, as well as in your family and free time.

INTEGRITY goes with you everywhere you go and everything you do. If you are not a person of INTEGRITY, make it a life PRINCIPLE TO BECOME a person of INTEGRITY. Without it you can never have followers that will follow you for long.

THE LAW OF INFLUENCE

ImageLeadership is based on the “LAW OF INFLUENCE.” In fact LEADERSHIP is nothing more and nothing less than INFLUENCE. Many people think that leadership is having a “Position” or a “Title” or maybe “Money and Power.”  These things are not LEADERSHIP. You can have all those things and still not be a LEADER. The person with INFLUENCE is the real LEADER.

There are three questions that all followers will ask of a LEADER:

1.  Do you care for me?

2.  Can you help me?

3.  Can I TRUST YOU?

A real leader will be asked these three questions and until he can answer them he does not qualify to be the LEADER. A leader must care for others at least as much as he cares for himself. That takes a very big person indeed. Next, do you have the knowledge and the know how to help other people with their struggle in life? Can you really help them have a better life? And last, can you be trusted, with integrity, character and a good testimony  from those around you? THIS IS WHAT A LEADER  IS ALL ABOUT.

STRATEGY OR CHARACTER

Gen Norman Schwarzkopf said, “Leadership is a potent combination of strategy and character, but if you must be without one, be without strategy.” Have you thought about the strategy you want to develop for your life, your family, your job, your finances? What kind of strategy are you developing to make that strategy happen. One of the hardest things any of us have to do is THINK! It takes time to THINK, to develop a plan for life. Most people spend more time planning a two week vacation than they do their life. I wonder which is more important.

I think the first and most important strategy we should develop is our CHARACTER. That is the foundation from which all other strategy is built upon. If CHARACTER AND INTEGRITY IS NOT THE CHIEF CONER STONE, then the building that you build will not last. The circumstances of the world will strike against you and your strategy will not stand the test of life.

Build your strategy for your life, where you want to be, what you want to do with your life, where you want to live, all of those important choices that all of us have to make, but make sure you develop the strategy  of a good strong CHARACTER FIRST. WHAT DO YOU THINK, IS IT IMPROTANT?
